Pretty city of the south of Australia, belongs to the South Australia state, Adelaide is peaceful, not too big and enjoyable.
I would not to have to stop at Adelaide, but like all the plan we can have in Australia, I stopped during three months. I liked the greenery of the town, her river and her ways we can take by bicycle. Her beaches not too far (40min by tram), the free tram in the center, her architecture and her festivals.
But beyond Adelaide there are the Hills. Hills overhanging the city with their small town full of charm like Hahndorf or stirling. The hills offer to us gorgeous views where forests and plantations coexist.
I worked in the Hills. First in a cherry’s plantation (very family) then in an apple and pears’ plantation.
When I started to working I quickly realized that was not possible to live in a backpacker because we need between 40 and 50min by car to get there, so too much fuel to spend. So I found thanks to Wiki (backpacker’s bible, see the article A savoir / Namely) a spot no so far from my work with toilets and BBQ where I could sleep in my car without bother someone or someone bother me. I learned to wash myself in the sink like my grandmothers did it and I paid a backpacker every weekend for take a big shower, wash my hair, wash my clothes and full my phone of battery. It was fun to live like that during a while. Then to the other farm I could live in the plantation. The weekends I went in a town to meet friends and spend good parties.
Don’t expect to spend there big parties, but there isfew good places. Nightclub like the rocket which propose a roof top for the bar, several pub like the Crown and Anchor which, in this period, proposed every Tuesday night $2 beers or the pub 4doors which have a good sound and photos exhibitions.
It’s in this city that I met Lola, Leny and Kenza with who I travelled later (see the article Road trip Adelaide/ Melbourne), Emma who offer me her home to stay during few weeks, Soso, Fasby, John (go on the article Jonjiflex) who invited us at his home for a memorable new year’s eve without meet us before, and a lot of other incredible people.
Adelaide and around are good places to live and I took pleasure to spend my everyday life there.
