Koh Tao

Forward Koh Tao by the south of Myanmar
To pass through the border it's really easy, a stamp for a visa exemption for 30 days and let's go.
We want to go to Chumphon to take the boat there because it's closer from Koh Tao than Surathani. We take a bus for Chumphon (1h30, 110Baths). We wanted to take the ferry but the sea was too rough so we had to stay overnight there and take the speedboat the morning after (400 baths per pax with Lomprayha but I think it's the most expensive company).
So the day after we arrive in Koh Tao in a guesthouse which we booked on internet for 1200 baths a bungalow for three, sea view. We stay there just one night because of Caroline and Guillaume (our couple of friend that we met in Myanmar and join in Koh Tao) who find a guesthouse for 650 baths a bungalow for three.
We had some rain the first day so we did shopping and walked around. The day after forward to Shark bay, maybe one hour walk. The bay is very nice with clear water but the particularity of shark bay is that, with a snorkeling stuff, you can swim with reef shark. So we spent a lot of time in water, seeing a lot of colorful fish. Evan if we know that the sharks are not dangerous, we don't want to get too close. The recommendation for seeing the sharks is to go on the morning and apparently you can also see turtles at the end of afternoon, but we didn't have this chance.
Koh Tao is a nice island but too small, we felt squeezed. The roads are really narrow and too many cars and motorbikes run in it.
This island is famous for her diving spot but as for me, if you don't dive or snorkel, there are many other beautiful islands in Thailand. It's also very touristic and you would meet many expatriate especially French.
Departure from Koh Tao with Songserm which we paid 220 bath per pax (it's the cheapest company and I think you can get cheaper price if you go directly at the company office).
