We do a trek for 3 days and 2 nights, full of experience. With 2 guides who speak English, we leave the town on Sunday morning in tuktuk after stop to the market for buying the food we need.
First we stop visiting a village. We don’t feel comfortable, it’s like be in a zoo. Go in these villages to walk around as they are an attraction is sad.

After this bad moment we start walking. The forest is thick and humid. The path is often very muddy. During the walk, the guide explain us the properties of some plants. We try a medicinal plant for the stomach problems, others that they use for cooking and bark of three which smell the same than the Vicks product.
We stop for the lunch, everything is ready as it’s from the market, they just set the table on the floor with banana’s leaves. The food is delicious.

The afternoon we keep climbing and find our camp for the night. With three pans, some ingredients from the market and mushrooms found on the trees and rattans they light a fire and start cooking the diner. That is really long but the final is incredible. With just garlic, chili, coriander and ginger they make us share an amazing meal. Everything is made with banana’s leaves, table, cutlery, plates!

We spend our night almost under the stars close to a river. The tour operator gave us the sleeping bag and of course it was so thin and we get cold.
The day after, one more time, the cooking of the breakfast was really long so we left around 10am.
The group split in two. People who do just 2 days and us. Unfortunately the “real” guide with the pedagogic behavior goes with the second group. The route this day was really hard. A lot of down and up on slippery path. We didn’t walk as much as the program said.
Arriving at the Akha village. The village is on a crest of the mountain. The kids enjoy to take pictures. People are smiley. Lot of women wear the traditional suit

We arrive at the Homestay with the guide. The guide leave us there during maybe one hour or one and a half. Fortunately we’ve got a good group. After this absence he comes back and says « I’m sorry I was with friends drinking lao lao (rice alcohol). Great guide, already on the road he teach us nothing except if we ask and still…
The diner is served and the guide says he planned a massage for all of us and free. Not so complicated because it was written on the program saying it was the Akha tradition for each arriving.
So we wait for our masseuse. And we see several young girls, kids. Jo is not comfortable to be masse by a young girl and at the end they wait a little bit. We supposed the waited for some notes, except, for me, I won’t give money to a kid.
We spend the rest of the evening drinking lao lao.
The day after return to the village after maybe 4 hours walking and one lunch in the nature.
Conclusion, three days of amazing landscapes.
